- History
of Our Christian School
-
- It was out of the desperate
need in our society for an education that properly recognizes God's
place in a person's development that Bedford Christian School was founded.
Under the bold leadership of Dr. E. Nathan Finch, founding pastor of
Bedford Baptist Temple, BCS first opened its doors in August of 1993.
At that time, the student body was comprised of a mere 11 students.
Since then, the school enrollment has grown, and various improvements
have been implemented. Today, BCS stands in our community as a school
where families seeking the benefits of a God-centered education can
comfortably and confidently enroll their children.

- Philosophy
of Christian Education
-
- From the Holy Bible we
understand that God has authorized three institutions: the home, human
government, and the New Testament church. God has given only two of
these institutions-the home and the church-commands and authority to
teach and educate. Following the commands of Scripture (Deuteronomy
6:4-9; Matthew 28:18-20), we believe in Christian education and herein
find our authority to establish and continue Bedford Christian School.
- The motive in placing children
in Bedford Christian School should be that our children be separated
from the world and become disciples of Jesus Christ. Training of that
nature has to be based on the Bible, and it must include Bible classes,
instruction on relationships, submission to authority, etc. The educational
process has to include Spirit-filled teachers, close participation from
parents, and involvement of the church leadership, specifically pastors
and staff.
- Educational concepts at
BCS should be better than the world's, and the students should excel
in the classroom. Jesus grew in body, soul, and spirit; so should the
students at BCS. A strong program to develop children physically and
socially is necessary in order for young Christian soldiers to take
their places in leading the affairs of our country and in training the
next generation.
- The basic purpose of BCS
is to train Christian young people to be ministers of the gospel of
Jesus Christ in all walks of life. Thus, it is not the primary vision
of the school to evangelize students who are not Christians. Related
to that is the determination that BCS should not be an institution used
to reform children who are rebels in public school or society.
- BCS is to be a God-centered
school where the gospel of Jesus is believed and taught at every level.
Bible teaching, study, memory, and practical application are important
parts of this process and should always be in agreement with the statement
of faith of Bedford Baptist Temple.

- Financial
Information
- BCS offers very competitive
and reasonable tuition, as well as discounts for families with more
than one child enrolled. Please visit our Finances page for detailed annual costs based upon your child's chronological
grade in school. You will also find sample monthly payments.
- Academic
Information
- The Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) curriculum used by BCS provides students
with more than ample instruction, practice, drill, review, and testing
to bring about mastery of subject matter. A truly well-rounded scope
and sequence in this curriculum allows students to build a very thorough
academic foundation in preparation for college and beyond. The goal
of our staff is to offer an academic environment that facilitates maximum
utilization of each student's potential and God-given academic abilities.
We believe that the learning that takes place in our school is for the
purpose of a student's full preparation for serving the Lord both now
and after graduation.
- Detailed academic
goals and curriculum information are available on the Academics page.
- Spiritual
Training
- We firmly believe
that a student's proper education is meant by God to include training
about Him and His Word. The primary spiritual goal for each of our students
is his salvation. With this goal met, we seek to train each student
in proper Christian character. The various methods used for meeting
these goals are detailed on the Biblical Instruction page. Just as with our academic goals, we hold to the spiritual goals
of BCS in order to fully prepare each student for serving the Lord throughout
his life.
